The project
A second phase, with its own identity.
The Collaborative 1879 is Phase 2 of the connected 1881 and 1879 community and is planned as a separate 128-home affordable apartment building at 1881 W North Temple. 22 Communities and Garn Development are advancing the project, with architecture and design by 22 Design + Lab.
The seven-story proposal complements Phase 1 while providing its own resident amenities, parking and building services. Its mix of 28 one-bedroom, 60 two-bedroom and 40 three-bedroom apartments gives particular emphasis to households needing more than one bedroom.

The planned resident program includes indoor and outdoor children’s play areas.

Secure bicycle parking and a resident fitness area are included in the amenity narrative.

A clubhouse lounge with a resident kitchen is planned to support gatherings and informal interaction.
Performance is a design intention.
The project materials describe plans to pursue Enterprise Green Communities and ENERGY STAR certification. These are targets to be carried through design, construction and verification—not claims that certification has already been achieved.
